Delhi body slams IMA for trying to defame PM

New Delhi: The IMA’s statement demanding clarification from the Prime Minister over his alleged statement that top pharmaceutical companies bribed doctors with women drew a sharp retort from Delhi Medical Association (DMA) on Wednesday. The office bearers of DMA said they strongly condemned the statement issued by Indian Medical Association criticising the PM as the very basis of the statement was wrong. “Association of Pharmaceutical Companies has clarified that no such discussion took place at all in the meeting that was convened by the PM on January 1,” Dr Girish Tyagi, president of DMA, said even as others spoke about the misuse of the apex body of doctors by some of its officers for their partisan purpose. “It is very deplorable that a few IMA office bearers for their political compulsions are carrying out a defamatory campaign against our Hon’ble PM which is against the national interest,” said Dr Harish Gupta, member of National Medical Council and a former president of DMA.
