Chinese delegation visits Gujarat to explore bulk drug industry in India
A high level Chinese delegation led by Zheng Huanmin, vice director, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission (BMSTC) and Pan Yue, director, Beijing Pharma and Biotech Center (BPBC) recently visited Gujarat to explore the bulk drug industry in India.
The visit was also aimed to provide a reference path for the development of high end generic drugs industry in Beijing in partnership with India.
As a part of the historic visit towards boosting the bulk drugs industry in the country, Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) officials explained the Chinese delegation about pharmaceutical regulatory policies in India, best practices followed and the generic drugs industry flourishing in India.
Delegation also acknowledged Gujarat FDCA e-governance system and its new initiatives. This was followed with Chinese delegates interaction with Dr Jayanti Ravi, principal secretary, Gujarat health department on pharmaceutical policies.
Delegation also visited Zydus Healthcare Ltd office in Ahmedabad.
This meeting is the outcome of the Chinese delegates interaction with Gujarat FDCA Commissioner Dr H G Koshia during China Pharmaceuticals Industry Internationalization Strategy Summit and China-India Pharmaceutical Business Convention held at Shanghai in May 2019.
Tian Dexiang, director, Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Daxing Bio-Medicine Industry Park, Liu Yi, Officer of Bio-medical Department, BMSTC, Ma Tao, department head, BPBC were also part of the Chinese delegation.
BMSTC implements laws, regulations, strategies, policies and principles of the state concerning science and technology (S&T) endeavors, organises drafting of strategies and policies to develop S&T to promote economic and social progress, drafts local regulations and rules concerning S&T development.
