ACM Consolidates APAC Presence With Phoenix PCS Acquisition
US-based laboratory-testing business ACM Global Central Laboratory has consolidated its presence in the Asia Pacific region by acquiring Phoenix Pharma Central Services Pte. Ltd (Phoenix PCS) for an undisclosed sum.
ACM described Phoenix PCS as a “premier” provider of central-laboratory services for clinical trials in Asia Pacific countries, with laboratory facilities in Singapore and Shanghai, China.
The new parent has been supplying central-laboratory services in the Asia Pacific region for more than 15 years, working with partner laboratories in India, Australia and China.
By acquiring Phoenix PCS, it explained, ACM Global gains “an established, fully-operational” laboratory in the heart of Singapore that can offer clients a local team with extensive clinical-trials experience, knowledge of regional regulatory requirements, country specific logistics, and familiarity with local customs and languages.
ACM Global will also acquire Phoenix PCS’ “brand new” laboratory facility in Shanghai, it noted.
With two laboratory locations in the Asia Pacific territories, ACM Global can now provide local support for clinical trials throughout the region with improved speed and efficiency, the company added.
Both the Shanghai and the Singapore facility will be equipped with ACM’s standard technology platforms and instrumentation, to enable seamless integration with ACM Global’s operations in the US, the US and India.
This will deliver a single global database with harmonised test data for all global clinical-trial projects, the company said.
“This acquisition is a major milestone in our organisation’s growth and represents a significant investment and commitment to the region,” commented Angela Panzarella, who is president of ACM Medical Laboratory, Incorporated, the parent company of ACM Global Central Laboratory.
Established in 2001, Phoenix PCS is offers services for Phase I to Phase IV clinical trials and has been accredited by the College of American Pathologists since 2003.
Founder and chief executive officer Chiew Yan Lee will continue to manage the business in Singapore and Shanghai as director, Singapore and Shanghai operations for ACM Global Central Laboratory.
